London - Brick Lane & Around Shoreditch

Brick Lane in London's Shoreditch area is simply an awesome assault on the senses.
We emerged from the London Coffee Festival onto the street and were swept up into the crowd past a series of fragrant Indian restaurants.
We bobbed along to the Backyard Market.
Inside, we discovered a treasure trove of fun and funky clothing, jewelry, and other handmade items.
Continuing on, we peeked into an open doorway and were amazed to find an array of food vendors from around the world.
These included Venezuelan...
...Ethiopian cuisine and more.
We opted for a vegetarian Ethiopian meal.
The place was crowded and there was no place to sit so we took our plate our back and ate standing up in the sunshine.
Continuing on, we passed fun street art.
Another vendor sold cups of amazingly fresh looking fruit - some of it was even smiling.
There were a number of adorable and well coiffed pets under foot in the crowd.
I was intrigued by the Mr Spicy Jamaican Jerk Chicken stand but alas we were too full to give it a go.
Beigel Bake had a queue out the door.  Apparently, these were purveyors of old school delicious bagels and sandwiches.  We'll have to give them a try next time.
We emerged from Brick Lane and discovered Box Park.
Elevated from the street, it offered great views of the scene below.
We wound our way through a warren of cargo containers that had been converted into pop-up shops and restaurants.
We stopped for a craft brew from the Shoreditch Brewery...
...looking out past the Tube bridge just beyond Box Park.
We re-entered the fray on Brick Lane, again admiring the dramatic street art nearby.
More markets were in store.  This one had some crazy whimsical decorations on the side of the building.
The Sunday Upmarket beckoned us inside.
Whoopie pies seem to be the new cupcakes as this was the 2nd place we'd seen boutique homemade varieties in two days.
More clothing, arts, and crafts were on offer.
Further up Brick Lane, we discovered a modern looking mosque built into a historic facade.
We popped into Old Spitalfields Market and I got excited when I saw this pile of scarves for 1 GBP each.  Somehow I managed to tear myself away.  I love scarves but have way too many at home.
We were left with this image of a goat sitting precariously on top of a stack of boxes before heading to Liverpool Street station for our return to Belgravia after calling it a day.
