I won! It seems that a bit of the luck of the Irish has rubbed off on me. Thanks to Dublin Visitor Centre, I was treated to two free passes to the Barrelman's Feast at the Old Jameson Distillery in Smithfield. As a result, we could look forward to an evening filled with hearty food, toe-tapping music, and quite possibly a wee dram of whiskey or two. We walked over to the distillery in the heart of Smithfield. A giant copper still marked the entrance to the property.
Inside, we looked around at the moody interior with splashes of neon declaring that we had arrived at John Jameson and Sons Bow Street Distillery.
We were about 15 minutes early for our dinner seating and treated ourselves to a wee dram of single pot whiskey (Redbreast 12 year). Single pot whiskeys are unique to Ireland and are derived from a mix of malted and unmalted barley following triple distillation in traditional copper pot stills,
The Barrelman greeted us and we made our way through the exhibits that by day make up the Jameson Distillery tour.
We were soon welcomed into the tasting room where we would be spending the evening. As part of the Barrelman's Feast, we were given a choice of a dram of neat whiskey or a Ginger and Lime cocktail.
We opted for the cocktail since we'd already had a nice warming dram earlier.
Bottles of Jameson, barrels of whiskey, and classic signage added atmosphere to the room.
Following our three course meal which included a lovely creme brulee served in a dish created from an old whiskey bottle and served on a stave from a whiskey barrel. Such flair!
Thanks again to Dublin Visitor Centre for picking me in the prize draw. We had a fantastic evening filled with food, fun, and, most definitely, the craic.

During and after dinner, we were treated to a musical performance by Sine Metu.
They played some modern Irish tunes (think U2 and Van Morrison)...
