I varied my route between Wall Street and Chelsea on the second day we were in New York City. There is endless eye and photo-candy in the city. On a spotless sunny day, we passed the old Colonial Church with the new Freedom Tower behind it...bookends on American history.
We walked through Tribeca again to find coffee. This time, we stopped at Laughing Man, Hugh Jackmnan's place with a hipster vibe (one of the baristas was wearing a threadbare three piece suit...) and a conscious. 50% of profits go to promoting education in developing countries.Comics lined the wall. Hugh (an Aussie) recommends a Flat White.
We placed our order with said suited barista and the espresso machine growled to life.
The result was a fine cuppa.
We wistfully left this little gem behind to continue on with our Commute Chronicle.
On this particular walk, I paid special attention to the fire escapes of the city.
They add a certain charm to some of the buildings.
A cryptic message appeared on one building: The whole world + the work = the whole world. Work is meaningless?
I'm lucky in that my office in New York is in a skyscraper with some amazing views. I took time to admire the cityscape of Lower Manhattan.
In the other direction, I could see the Empire State Building - stunning.
Now that's a commute!
