The São Bento Train Station is worth a moment of pause if you find yourself in Porto. The interior is lined with scenes depicted in aqua blue tiles.
Ornate white ceilings frame the scene.Colorful tiles depicting trains run in strips up the walls.
The platform itself is decisively more modern.
We had just a few minutes before our tram was scheduled to depart so we popped over to Bella Doce, a stand-up cafe for a final sweet treat.
We opted for the obligatory pastel de nata...
...and Queijadinhas, the 'especialidade da casa'. The specialty of the house always seems like a good, safe bet.
The cheesy flavor of the queijadinha complemented the sweet creamy taste and texture of the pastel de nata perfectly.
And with that, our city break in Porto came to an end and we were left with some amazing memories to fuel us until we can return someday.
