Paris - Tourist Central

We set out from Montparnasse through St. Germain towards the Seine.
We stopped into a local grocer and admired the selection of fine champagnes thinking back to our visit to Reims the day before.
St. Sulpice was an unexpected surprise on our walk.
We especially liked the fountain with roaring lions and screaming heads.
Fine statues were tucked into alcoves along the side of St. Sulpice.
We were amused to find The Great Canadian Pub tucked along the Seine.
We could see Notre Dame in the distance and made our way in that direction.
The bridge leading to Notre Dame was completely covered in locks.
We had a humble goal for the walk to our favorite coffee shop (Café Français) in Bastille for a coffee and pain au chocolat.  We arrived in Place du Bastille.  We walked up and down the area searching for our favorite place.  Alas, it seems like it was gone. Very sad since the coffee and treats there were amazing.  Places like that are a dying breed in Paris.
We decided to take the Metro to the Louvre thinking that would be a good diversion for a cold winter afternoon.
The line to get in went on for what seemed like miles.  We learned later that the museum offers free entry on the first Sunday of each month which explains the issue.  We opted to explore the sculptures outside instead.
Even Musée des Arts Décoratifs had a huge queue.
Visiting a museum wasn't meant to be this time, I guess.  We explored the area around the Paris Opera.  The colorful embellishments by the nearby Metro station were delightful.
We discovered the Comédie-Française theatre in a hidden courtyard.  Black and white striped pillars dotted the area and made a striking scene.
We concluded our afternoon stroll with one of our favorite passtimes, a glass of wine.  L'Avant Premiere seemed to beckon us in.
They even served a tiny shot glass of popcorn with our wine which was a nice touch.
We concluded our walk with a visit to a sumptuous arcade.
I love visiting Paris because there are so many nooks and crannies to explore.  Each trip offers something new and unexpected.
