Dublin - Nothing Like a Bit of Sunshine to Spark a Good Mood

There is nothing like a sunny day in Dublin to get the spirits up.  We spent the day walking around town soaking in the rays.  I captured this picture while crossing the Samuel Beckett Bridge near the Convention Center -- a perfect cloud!
We walked along O'Connell Street on the Northside and stopped into the General Post Office (GPO) site of the major clashes during the 1916 uprising.  It looks much more classy and sedate today.
We stumbled upon the Ha'Penny Flea Market at The Grand Social.  It's dark inside, but they had some rooftop vendors outside as well.
Our next stop was the Temple Bar Food Market.  We enjoyed pork, potatoes, and red cabbage direct from the farm complete with 'cracklin' - crispy pork skin (it's more delicious than it sounds...).
We walked further afield than usual toward St. Patrick's Cathedral.  On the way, we passed the Iveagh Trust Public Baths.
There is a park outside St. Patrick's Cathedral.  There's a stone by the entrance that reads:

Near here is the reputed site of the well where St. Patrick baptized many of the local inhabitants in the 5th Century A.D.

The sun was still shining (a small miracle) as we explored the park.
It didn't last long...
We discovered the Dublin Millennium Literary Parade which honors some of Dublin's great authors like James Joyce.
Leaving the ground of St. Patrick's, we saw an unusual sight -- a horse cart on a major city thoroughfare!
We walked through some residential back roads toward Camden St.  I was charmed by two cats on top of a brick wall.
As usual, we saw some strikingly colorful doors.
We passed St. Kevin's Park and Cemetery and took a look inside.  This is the same park that the Ghostbus went to on our rainy evening adventure a few months back (link to post).  It looks so different and more benign in the daylight!
We encountered some intriguing graffiti as we continued our walk.
I especially liked this one:  Dare to be Different.  This resonates with how we personally try to live our lives :-)
We shopped along Camden Street and I couldn't help but take a quick snap of this sad looking dog waiting for his owner outside a local restaurant.
As the sun set, we finished our day at the Irish Film Institute (IFI) where we watched a series of short films as part of the Jameson Dublin International Film Festival.  One of our favorite shorts was Blue Rinse, a tale of elderly Irish ladies that despite life's trials still make it to the hairdresser on a weekly basis.  Both the director and some of the films stars were in the audience.  Delightful!
