In Search of Goliath the Robot and More on a Sunny Saturday in San Francisco

Easter was definitely in the air as we set out in search of the Pacific Heights robot. Check out this creepy bunny peering out from a bay window of a neighborhood mansion.

We saw this old firehouse along our route. It looks really authentic and just gleamed in the sunshine. However, judging from the curtains hanging in the door where the fire truck should come barrelling out, I suspect someone lives here now and it's not an active station.

Pacific Heights Goliath the Robot: Old Firehouse in San FranciscoThe owners of the fire house have two cool doorbells -- one for the firehouse and one for the cookhouse. I wonder if this is a two unit condo.

Firehouse and Cookhouse DoorbellsWe caught a glimpse of this majestic bird landing on the roof of another impressive home. I think this is some species of heron.

Interestingly, this same home has an outdoor fish tank -- so cool.

We walked around the corner and didn't find our avian amigo but did find something else out of the ordinary. Hello, Robot! This is not what I normally expect to see adorning the lawn of a Pacific Heights home.
Goliath the Robot in Pacific Heights, San FranciscoIn case you didn't believe it from the first picture, here he is again, all up close and personal.

Goliath the Robot in Pacific Heights, San FranciscoHe looks even more jaunty peering through the trees in front of the home. Apparently, this robot is named Goliath and is owned by author Robert Mailer Anderson. What a great, futuristic mascot.

Goliath the Robot in Pacific Heights, San FranciscoAfter checking out Goliath, we passed the intersection of Broadway and Broderick. This curvy street which could easily trump the more famous Lombard in "crookedness" is actually someone's driveway.
After our stroll in Pacific Heights, we went to a rooftop party in SOMA. The venue featured fantastic views of a nearby mission and panoramic vistas.

My favorite guest at the party was Georgia Costanza, this lovely bull dog. She was definitely the life of the party! How can you not love that mug!

After the party, we headed to another of our favorite haunts, The Jug Shop! They were hosting a wine tasting affectionately called "Weird Assed Whites". They censored the sign outside a bit compared to what was advertised on their website.

Weird Assed White Wines at the Jug Shop in San FranciscoWe tried a number of unusual varietals including Chasselas, Posip from Croatia, and an Argentinian Torrontes.
