We made a pilgrimage on the public bus to Restaurante El Tintero situated on the farthest reaches of the beaches in Málaga City. Restaurante El Tintero is known for fresh seafood and a unique sales approach...Waiters come around with fresh plates of food and call it out to the diners who then wave them over when they see something they like.
We grabbed a seat and watched the proceedings.
A waiter with a bellowing operatic voice approached and stopped in front of our table with some skewers.
Restaurante El Tintero is worth the detour if you are staying in Málaga as it is a unique restaurant experience that I've never seen anywhere else. Give it a go, you won't regret it.
I was a bit flustered and didn't understand what it was - it didn't look like seafood. Turns out that we accidentally ordered the chicken :-/
We managed to snag one of the menus which was helpful for understanding some of the things that were coming around. It was fun to practice our Spanish seafood vocabulary.
Even though we were full, we spent some time watching the waiters move round the massive hall. This guy with the operatic voice was my favorite. After he finished selling all his plates of chicken, he moved on to GAMBONES!!!!!!!! In every corner of the room, there was no mistaking it. If you were in the mood for giant shrimp, this was your man! Now every time, I see shrimp on a menu, I can't help shouting out 'GAMBONES'... :-)
