Dublin - Bloom in the Park

Dublin's Bloom in the Park offers the perfect excuse to visit Phoenix Park.
We took the shuttle from Heuston station to the entrance of the festival at the north end of Phoenix Park.  We were greeted with a quote from James Joyce's Ulysses:  "Alo! Bonjour. Welcome as the flowers in May."
We entered the main pavilion and admired the riotous displays.
We got as close as we could to the gorgeous and colorful blooms!
We spotted a mossy head peeking out at us from one booth.
Mountains of flowers confronted us at every turn.
We moved into an area where florists were competing for the best floral arrangements.
Some of the creations were particularly imaginative like this one celebrating Ireland's The Gathering.
We approached the walled garden which was lined with hanging baskets of blooms from the outside.
We admired the produce...
vines...
and ornamental flowers growing within.
We emerged on the far side into an area of concept gardens.
I liked this garden with neon children playing within.
At another spot, we noticed a choral group singing away at the onlooking crowd.
Too bad they didn't have a microphone and speakers set-up.  It was really hard to hear.
An astro-turf castle loomed ahead of us.
The scarecrow from the Wizard of Oz stood in line with the onlooking crowd.
A fast-moving fountain punctuated the scene at another garden.
From Dublin 2013 2
A UFO crash-landed warning of threats from invasive species.
We passed through the walled garden again...
We followed the line of flowers towards a hedge maze.
At the far end of Bloom in the Park, we found livestock on display.  Look at this surly fellow!
There were even some lambs that children could pet.
A separate pen housed lazy pigs.
Cattle rested in another area.
A giant potato stood on display.
Tons of Irish food vendors lined the stalls at the Love Irish Foods pavilion.
We wandered into one display which showed various kinds of potatoes.
We finished the day with a bit of music that ranged from gypsy-inspired...
...to barbershop.
We decided to walk back home from the festival and admired the greenery and flowers of Phoenix Park en route.
We emerged from the park and lost ourselves in the city for the rest of the afternoon.
