We recently visited family in Naples, Florida. Naples is a haven for retirees but there is still plenty for younger folks to do. My family lives in Pelican Bay and there is a protected mangrove forest nearby with a berm running through it.
We walked along the berm to the beach.
We spotted a couple signs warning us about the alligators.
Sure enough, we spotted a whole cohort of gators sunning themselves not far from the path.
Woodpeckers had gone to town on this tree.
We rounded out our walk with more bird (ibis)...
...and alligator sightings.
