We took some time during our city break in Barcelona to explore the neighborhood flanking Avinguda Diagonal near our hotel (Hotel Wilson). We were drawn in by the delicious baked goods at Macxipa and sampled a croissant filled with chocolate and custard.Barcelona is always whimsical and surprising. We noticed this building with octagonal elements to the facade.
We had lovely views from our hotel room window.
We wandered along Avinguda Diagonal and then Passeig de Gràcia where many of Gaudi's finest buildings (and many Gaudi-inspired constructions...) are located.
Avinguda Diagonal features a tree-lined foot and bicycle path.
We spotted a sculpture that seemed to be half-man, half-giraffe.
Jardins del Palau Robert.
Having drank our fill of the modernismo architecture, we made our way toward La Rambla; tourist central in Barcelona.
