Our lunch stop at Sağlam Restaurant on the return from Pergamon to Izmir proved to be informative and entertaining. We were treated to a plate of assorted mezzes.
We opted for lamb kebab......and pide...
For dessert, we were given a sample of fruit and honey drenched pastry.
The best part of the meal was the Turkish coffee.
We drained our glass and then upended the cup into the saucer.
The owner of the restaurant came out and thoughtfully read our fortune in the coffee grounds.
Confident that our future looked bright, we drove back into town but not before dodging some sheep that had wandered into the road.
