Turkey for Thanksgiving - An Introduction to Turkish Cats

Back in late November, we made our first trip to Turkey and it just happened to coincide with the American Thanksgiving Holiday.  Turkey in Thanksgiving -- Perfect!  The most surprising thing that I found about Turkey was the sheer number of stray cats around town.  Most feral cats I've encountered in the past don't like people and are rather hostile.  These cats were definitely different.  They were typically friendly and would vie for attention.  At one point, my husband reached into his day bag at Ephesus and accidentally rustled a plastic bag inside.  A herd of cats came running!
I thought I'd start my series of blog posts on our vacation in Turkey with a tribute to all the cats that we met along the way.

In addition to the slide show above, I also picked out a few of my favorite cats to highlight below.

#1 Pepper (background), Salt, and Ginger - The Sultan Ahmed Cats
#2 Sophia - The Hagia Sophia Cat
#3 Prowler - the fearless barbed wire loving cat
#4 Buster - The Nişantaşi Park Cat

#5 Marmara - the Seashore Cat

#6 Nappy - the Sleeping Cat
#7 Sheba - The Queen of Ephesus
