San Franciscans love a spectacle so I wasn't surprised when I saw a blog post about the 2010 Urban Iditarod on Laughing Squid. The main objective was to procure a shopping cart, dress yourself and your cart up in costume, fill that cart with beer (optional), and then "mush" about 2.5 miles through the city. We caught up with the racers at the starting line in Willie Mays Plaza near AT&T Park.
I loved this doggy inspired cart.
This may have been a homage to Laughing Squid... I'm not sure. Very creative costumes nonetheless.
I wonder how many clowns you could fit in this undersized cart?
The clown seems much happier now that someone has given him a beer to go in it.
There was the No Dog Poop cart.
My personal favorite was "Santa-Paws". This gentleman was definitely brave to walk the street of San Francisco in a furry Santa bra. He could get seriously sunburned!
Of course, it's not a party without a Snuggie. Love this leopard print get-up. It would probably be warm enough to wear to the real Iditarod!
Overall, it seemed to be a fun excuse for a little silliness and harmless mayhem. Mush!
Awesome! Loved the Santa outfits.
